In this research, the soya bean based N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)thiophene-2-carboxamide (HETCA)-modified alkyd resins and N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)furan-2-carboxamide (HEFCA)-modified alkyd resins are prepared by partial replacement of glycerol (G) with each (HETCA) (I) and (HEFCA) (III), respectively, which are reacted as source of polyhydric alcohols, with both phthalic anhydride (PA) and soya bean oil fatty acids (SOFA), as source of polyacids .
The new HETCA-modified alkyd resins and previously prepared HEFCA-modified alkyd resins enter in final coating formulations and their performance are evaluated and compared using the international standard test methods (ASTM) and involved the measurement of phyisco-mechanical properties such as viscosity, drying time, specular gloss, pencil hardness, adhesion, flexibility. In general, the results show that the modification enhances both phyisco-mechanical and chemical properties. The corrosion resistance of alkyd resins improved by such HETCA and HEFCA- modification
Additionally, expected corrosion inhibitors such as morpholino(thiophen-2-yl)methanone (II) and morpholino(furan-2-yl)methanone (IV) are prepared and their anticorrosion effect is investigated by two ways. First, as an additive with unmodified (commercial) alkyd resin in zinc phosphate primer formulations. Second, as an additive with previously prepared HETCA- and HEFCA-modified alkyd resins in the same primer formulations. Both of corrosion inhibitors (II) and (IV) improve the corrosion resistance at certain dosages.https://absb.journals.ekb.eg/article_24328_52af306c3fa7ea460ad5d7f84753e796.pdfAl-Azhar University, Faculty of Science (Boys)Al-Azhar Bulletin of Science1110-253527Issue 1-A20160601REGIOSPECIFIC SYNTHESIS AND RATIONALIZATION OF THE REGIODIVERGENCE SOME SPIROOXINDOLES AS EXPECTED ANTIOXIDANT AGENTS41462432910.21608/absb.2016.24329ENSameh A.RizkChemistry Department, Science Faculty, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt 11566Naglaa F.MahmoudChemistry Department, Science Faculty, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt 11566.Noueldin A.AbdelsattarChemistry Department, Science Faculty, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt 11566Mai S.AliChemistry Department, Science Faculty, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt 11566Journal Article20160210The spirooxindolo pyrrolidine frameworks form core units of many naturally occurring molecules possess significant pharmacological activities. The [3+2] cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides has been realized through multi-component reaction (MCR) affording regiospecific spiroindoline-3, 2’-pyrrolidine derivatives. The reactivity of the spiroindoline (increase EHOMO value) has been depended upon electron repelling and attracting groups. The behavior of spiroindoline towards carbon electrophile and nitrogen nucleophile can be investigated. The Schiff base ligand is prepared by the condensation of aromatic amine namely Ortho-anizidin with selected aldehyde namely N,N Dimethyl-Para- amino-benzaldehyde and the microwave technique was used for the preparation of ligand and its metal complexes. The characterization of ligand and its metal complexes were studied using elemental analysis, 1HNMR, spectral UV–Visible reflectance, infrared, magnetic properties, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The physical properties of solid complexes showed their stability to be formulated as pigments in anticorrosive paint formula, also the mechanical, color properties, corrosion resistance of dry paint films were also examined and showed excellent mechanical, corrosion resistance and color stability.https://absb.journals.ekb.eg/article_24331_33c57dccd1e6059de515d0045a49dd1e.pdfAl-Azhar University, Faculty of Science (Boys)Al-Azhar Bulletin of Science1110-253527Issue 1-A20160601Synthesis, of some transition metal (ΙΙ/ΙΙΙ)-Schiff base complexes and copper, zinc nanoparticle size bearing sulfonamide fragment : New drugs for antimicrobial and anticancer agents.63802433410.21608/absb.2016.24334ENA. The metal complexes and copper, zinc nano particles size (CuNPs, ZnNPs) of HL ligand were synthesized and characterized using different physico-chemical studies as elemental analyses, mass spectra, conductivity measurement, UV-vis Spectra, solid reflectance, IR spectra,,1H NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility, thermal analyses (TGA and DTA), (TEM) Transmission Electron Microscope and their microbial and anticancer activities . The spectroscopic data of the complexes suggest their 1:2(L:M) complex structures. Also the spectroscopic studies suggested the octahedral structure for all complexes. The size and morphology investigation of copper and zinc nano particles (CuNPs, ZnNPs) with (HL) ligand by TEM images indicate that the copper and zinc nano (CuNPs, ZnNPs) show spherical shape with core shell of HL ligand. The synthesized Schiff base and its metal complexes, CuNPs, ZnNPs were screened for their bacterial, antifungal and anticancer activity. The activity data show that the metal complexes, CuNPs and ZnNPs to be more potent than the parent HL Schiff base ligand. Also the data show that the CuNPs and ZnNPs more potent than the metal complexes and than HL free ligand .https://absb.journals.ekb.eg/article_24334_fd772b98e62f8a91b6eb9bebb4bf7ba1.pdf
